Find Out How Adidas Is Turning Trash Into Sneakers

Adidas partnered up with Parley For The Oceans to create a sneaker made up of recycled ocean plastic found in the Indian Ocean. 11 million plastic bottles are being turned into materials used to mass produce 1 million new pairs of Adidas sneakers.

The upper part of the sneaker is made up entirely of plastic found in the ocean, the midsole is 3d printed, and the fibers are knit together using a technique called tailored fiber placement.

Plastic is being dumped into the ocean at an alarming rate and often times this plastic can poison or kill fish and wildlife. Adidas is making an effort to bring awareness to the problem and reduce the amount of plastic we use and dump into the ocean.

We are still waiting on official release date and a retail price.
