4. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Zebra

The Yeezy Zebra shifted the game. Before its release, the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 had mostly relied on its functional silhouette – a winning combination of a woven Primeknit upper and a full length Boost midsole wrapped in a rupper TPU casing – as opposed to ambitious colorway options. But that changed with this extremely sought after Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Zebra” release. Upon hitting retailers on February 25th, 2017, it became clear just how limited these shoes actually are, with pairs only being available directly from adidas and one other major retail door. This iteration of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 sees white and black upper distributed equally throughout the upper, with red “SPLY-350” messaging and a white rubber sole.

RANKINGS 11-20

Nike Supreme Air More Uptempo

Designed by Wilson Smith, worn by Scottie Pippen, the Nike Air More Uptempo – known for boasting large “AIR” branding on the lateral and medial sides – is one of the boldest basketball sneakers ever. Iconic streetwear brand Supreme is revered in a similar manner, thanks to over 20 years of delivering culturally relevant goods created in-house and via collaborations. Words collide in this 2017 example of the latter – a sneaker collab that’s known as the “Suptempo.” The house that James Jebbia built put its spin on the Air More Uptempo, replacing the “AIR” messaging with “SUPREME” in the patented bold lettering that wraps around the heel. This Metallic Gold option features a tonal premium leather upper. The same gold hue coats the Supreme lettering, which features glow in the dark trimming in white; the midsole is also white. The lace tips feature the words "World" and "Famous."

The Swoosh brand brings the Sport Red pair back, this time as a much more widely available release. This iteration of the Air Max 1 maintains its OG shape and details. The Sport Red hue covers the suede mudguard and Swoosh, along with the Nike branding on the heel and tongue. Grey suede and white mesh paneling balances the rest of the shoe.

Legendary streetwear retailer and brand Undefeated provides a perfect blend of anticipation and damned good design work with their rendition of Nike's Air Max 97 OG. The release couldn't be more timely, as the Air Max 97 celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2017. Released in a black and white option alongside an apparel collection of hoodies, t-shirts, socks, and bags, UNDFTD pays tribute to Italy’s love for the model by dressing the wavy side panel stripes in Speed Red and Gorge Green. Premium patent leather coats the mudguard, while the classic reflective 3M gives some semblance of the OG feel. Nike Flyknit Trainer White/Black

Nike is responsible for the “knit” sneaker era that we’re in right now. We’ve seen the Swoosh brand’s Flyknit technology take numerous twists and turns in its five-year history. Summer/Fall 2017 sees the first-ever retro release of the Flyknit Trainer. The model returns in the clean black and white colorway. The OG color combination is interwoven throughout the forefoot, while the back portion of the shoe sports a tonal white look with black accents, including an eye-catching Swoosh. This Nike Flyknit Trainer is easily one of the most popular Flyknit shoes of all-time.

Jordan 13 Black Cat

This all black colorway was inspired by a black cat, a nickname given to Michael Jordan back in the day. These shoes are slick yet aggressive, like Jordan’s play style in his prime. The shoes are all black, except the bright green jewel on the heel which represents the eye of a cat.

Nike Air Max 97 Gold

The 20th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 97, the Christian Tresser-designed shoe inspired by Japan’s high-speed Bullet train, brings back the classic in some familiar colorways. That includes this stunning 2017 retro of the “Metallic Gold” colorway. The upper is constructed with a combination of leather and mesh, both of which appear in gold. Reflective 3M detailing adds another dynamic to the look. The precious metal inspiration is complemented by black accents on the outsole, inner lining, heel tab, and tongue. Hints of red also appear on Swooshes seen on the lateral and medial sides of the shoe, as well as the tongue. A white midsole balances the look, while the full-length air unit puts Nike’s stamp on the design.
